Garage doors and lights suggestions

Positively Palermo received this e-mail: "Hi Penny: We wanted to give some suggestions for the garage door openers that came with the townhouses and light bulbs for the built-in can lights in all the units: - Per a garage door repair company, it's suggested that we use LITHIUM GREASE in the screw mechanism that runs from the garage door opener motor to the front of the garage door (it can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes). The screw is hard to see, but it runs through the center of the long track that raises the garage door. We were told Chamberlain no longer makes this type of garage door opener because of problems with the screw mechanism and the extreme heat in the valley will take its toll. We used the lithium grease on our door and it is EXTREMELY quiet now when it opens/closes. It's also suggested people use WD40 on the main spring and support wheels that run on both sides of the track. - The original light bulbs that were installed in the can lights give off a very cold and blue light (the type of light you would see with fluorescent lights in a factory or hospital. You can go to Home Depot or Lowes and replace the same type bulbs, but you have to buy ones that are 2700 to 3000 Kelvin and they will give off a much more natural light, similar to an incandescent bulb. When you drive through our great complex and you see these old types of bulbs/lights at night in the kitchens, it just looks too industrial. Hope it helps." Miss Penny Lane says: Thanks for the tips.
