After complaints, the Palermo Palm Springs HOA board several months ago fired the pool service and landscaping service. Back then, residents also complained about Colt Security and the board said Colt would be let go, too. Instead, the board increased the Colt contract and number of security visits. Now, Colt has been released from its contract after more complaints, on matters such as the illegal parking in the fire lanes and slow response time. Here is the e-mail message sent out to homeowners today:
"Dear Homeowners,
The Palermo Community Association has hired Coachella Valley Security as the new security company.
You may contact Coachella Valley Security at:
Office number: (760)-200-8999 for any security issues from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Answering Service: (760)-778-7469 for any non-emergency issue from 5:30 p.m. 8:30a.m.
Security Office Dispatch: (760)-534-0560 for any emergency security issues from 8:30p.m. - 4:30a.m.
You may call this number for any noise, towing or security related issues that need to be resolved ASAP. If you should have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 760-346-1161 or via e-mail at bscott@drminternet.com."
Residents must wonder if the board soon will discontinue the contracts of other service providers who are the objects of complaints by owners and renters. Miss Penny Lane says: A big Palermo welcome to Coachella Valley Security, and when will all the Colt signs plastered about our community be taken down?

Next the boardies needs to follow through with their promises to get a new management company. You can't tell people you are going to do it and then just come up with excuses.
We need community management not BS
I have seen changes for the good. Mabye not as fast as everyone would like to see, but defintly positive moves in the right direction. Seems good degree of things have been getting better for all of us. Do you agree we are going in the right direction?
There has been progress compared to a year ago when we had no cameras in the clubhouse and those VPM rental kids running around the place. Management responses time hasn't changed nor the brush-off. Some of the improvement I think is due to the "watchdogging" by residents on this blog. Also need full-time residents on the board.
I noticed that no one on the board is a full time resident, I am surpised that no one that here full time is going for the open spots on the board. Why do you think that is?
Maybe the full-timers who deal with DRM more often than the part-time board members don't want to deal with DRM even more if they were on the board. Just raising the question.
To the above post: LOL

The times/numbers for the new security company don't make sense. There are hours that aren't covered for emergencies. Brandi needs to clarify want she wrote in that email, like who do we call for emergencies between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.?
Miss Penny Lane for HOA Board! Rather than hide behind your anonymous website, why don't you really make a difference and step out of the shadows?
This community is the biggest bunch of babies I have ever seen. You all cry and complain about everything yet you do nothing except nit-pick and everything and everyone. No wonder no one wants to come and live here either by purchasing or renting. And as a matter of fact when ANYONE visits one of the condos here and happens to ask me how Palermo is ........ and this happens often ....... I tell them that everyone that lives here are the biggest cry babies and complainers in the world. The HOA, the residents that own here are just the worst and I also tell anyone all over the valley when they ask about here.
Get a life you idiots ............. this is the worst place anyone could ever live because of all you idiot complaining babies.
I can promise you that I will continue to tell everyone to NOT move here if I can.
Everyone wants to rent here. The rentals are snapped up in days - that's why VPM is so desperate to keep this contract.
The new VPM renters on the east side of Melody, one house up from Breeze, need to stop parking their big trucks in the street. Michael, please do something about it.
Observation: Street parking has continued unchecked despite new security company. Question: Why hasn't HOA, DRM, or VPM stepped up to the plate to address this instead of pussy footing around not wanting to rock the boat as usual? Educated guess: Most of HOA does not live here full time and DRM isn't even in Palm Springs. Tsk, tsk tsk.
