NEWS FLASH: All HOA board officers are re-elected in landslide vote rebuking the recall's takeover attempt

This just in from the HOA meeting tonight: In a rebuke of the attempt to oust the Palermo HOA board officers, the association president, vice president, secretary and treasurer all were returned to office in a landslide vote by owners, with not a single officer removed from their position. Homeowners give a vote of confidence to the board leadership and to the HOA's direction, and reject the recall's goals to takeover the HOA board. A clear "mandate" exists it appears. Miss Penny Lane says: Thanks to all who ran and give their time.

NEW INFORMATION: A total of about 450 votes were cast for 10 candidates. The top three vote-getters (the HOA president, secretary and treasurer) received nearly 300 of them (actually 288 votes). With not many votes left and the remaining seven candidates vying for the rest of the votes, some of the recall people received in the single digits. The candidate of the rental company received 15 votes. Thanks for the info.

UPDATE: We have learned more. It was reported that a festive, friendly atmosphere existed in the clubhouse as owners and renters gathered to support the board, demonstrating that the Palermo spirit is alive and well. Some of the so-called "recall candidates" did not show up for the meeting.

So glad this is all over. Thanks to the current (and future!) board for behaving with class, unlike the recallers.

www.cprps.com has a nice note.

I agree 100%........ I am so disgusted at the recallers. They wasted our time and HOA money with these shenannigans It is, however, time for all of us to move beyond this and work together to make Palermo a Great place to live and own.

Right. Pretty much showed where the community's head is at. Like 80-90 percentile said heck no to these recall people. Complete disaster to them me thinks.

Thanks for the people who did run.

Well, I was there and the current and present HOA president got one quarter of ALL the votes casted alone (and 9 other candidates existed!!!!) Can ya say: BLOW OUT. People were just blown away.

Time to move on. Recallers were rejected. It's done. Big support for the board. Great terrific nite for the owners at Palermo. Showed we can unite and stand up.

HI, This is Debby, I have said very little during this recall but I would like say a few things now. Thanks to all of you who volunteered to count the votes. Tiff, Rob and Bill did an amazing job. I'm sure it wasn't easy with all of us looking on. I also want to thank Alfie and Carmen for coming to count votes even though we had enough doing the count. I was amazed by the amount of people who came to the meeting, called in, and took the time to even send their votes. This support is overwhelming and very appreciated. We have a great community and it's nice to see the unity we have developed over the past few years. Lets all move forward now to strengthen the love we have for each other and Palermo.

I would like to point out that those of you who think Travis is "Miss Penny Lane" must be wrong. Travis was at the meeting last night while this was being posted on Penny's site. Nuf said!!!

I think it is time for all to move on. I do not mean this as a criticism of the board as they did keep doing the people's business during the 3 or 4 months of this recall, but it is time to move on. I congratulate all who ran and all who have served. Thank you thank you.

Agree with 816: Thanks to everyone who participated.

Yes, thank you again Bill Kempf Tiff Laboe, and Rob Guzman for all their time counting the votes. What a pleasent evening at the club house. Now the board can on the other projects that need to be tackled.Such as roof inspections, the painting projects etc. The recall took up so much time and energy fo NO reason. The recall cost us a lot of dough. People in cardboard houses should not throw bricks. they need to throw cash back in to the HOA for the cost of this recall.Agreed? FORWARD!!

Jolly good job to all!

Forward, for sure. But all must be given credit for their interest in Palermo.

I feel that our Palermo is in safe hands. Thanks to everyone who took part.

Good job. Community has spoken. Recall takeover was a joke.

The recall witch hunting is over with the owners saying firmly they support the board and rejected completely and absolutely the witch hunting. We have very very professional board leaders with a "clear" mandate in direction.

That recall thing sure did not turn out how they thought, did it? Pretty adapt of our board to take being targeted in a recall and turn it into a win for them, with some of the them not having longer terms than before. Brilliant.

To 12:28, I think that is way the fab 4 decided to support the recall.

Brilliant is the word, is the word. The recall people had no one who knew about public/community relations it seems to me, and it showed. You plot a recall and then it 100 percent backfires on you?!!!! What folly, I say. Running a sharp, clear campaign, getting the word out about all the many numerous accomplishments will do the job anytime, and the board did just that in my book

I also want to add that it was down right daring of the board members to support a recall, when the safety path and comfort thing wold have been to urge a NO VOTE, but they went for broke and end up with the jackpot. YES, BRILLIANT and daring!!!!!!!

Pretty gutsy.

In my little opinion, the recall to remove the Fab 4 (officers) was ill-thought out and certainly ill-executed when considering the results, as the president got more than 120 votes and on the bottom end people got in the single digits or teens or 20s. I never really got what the recallers were trying to tell us except that the the board leaders were "bad" people, which didn't jive with what I know to be true and others know, and then I saw this thing that they were trying to say a board member was Miss Penny, which, I am sorry, but that would be reason to FOR that person. Miss Penny has done so much for us, all without taking any credit for her good works. I remember back in 2009 or 2010 that the board was planning a Miss Penny Lane party. The whole recall thing was so convoluted to me. I must say I was very surprised when people were saying to vote Yes and then support the board officers, but it worked out the best for the community. As an original owner from the Midwest I was also concerned upon learning that half of the people who signed the recall notice were connected to Enterprise, the first builder. I never understood that connection in all this business but it gave me pause. Congrats to the board for something well played (and well planned).

I agree that whomever is Penny Lane should get an automatic seat on the board as sge is the one who kept this place together during te darkest days of the economy and through the (now gone) first Enterprise renters who had cheaper rents and maybe not screened te best possible.

The board in 2010 even said that Penny Lane would be the official way to get official information out - check the board minutes!!!!!! Yes, we love our Penny - automatic board spot for Penny Lane! That nasty cardboard condo vacation rental site on Facebook even has entries by the site owner praising Penny lane a few months ago say how amazing she is for Palermo. I have some nice screen shots of it but I can't post them here. I will mail them out. Penny Lane in 2013!

Glad this chapter in Palermo's history is over and it ended with a happy ending.

What on earth were the people behind this recall thinking? It only served to show just how liked and popular the board is.

Recalls as a policy are not good. But it is an interesting use to turn the table on the ones who used the process and sought the petition. A good political study that I will give my daughter who teaches political science. I have never heard of subjects (recallees) of recall using it to give rid of the recallers.

Thnx to everybody who ran. There's always next time.

I had to burst out laughing when I read something by one of the recall people predicting the outcome with absolutely everything in it wrong. It's kind of crazy but the HOA president received more votes than all five of the recall candidates combine with many left over. One person gets more than 5 people COMBINED! Can ya say "MANDATE."
