Board meeting canceled

Brimming with good ideas and thoughts, Miss Penny Lane arrived early to yesterday's scheduled HOA meeting, only to find a notice canceling the meeting and no new meeting date posted. Now she wonders if she ever will make it to a HOA meeting. It's likely the next meeting will be held with little or no notice. Most residents only knew about Wednesday's meeting because of postcards from this blog and mailbox signs put up by another resident. Miss Penny Lane needs to rush off to work. But before going, must ask: Why didn't someone have the courtesy to show up to meet with the residents?

The BOD of Palermo have no care or worries about this community. Last night my girlfriend went to attend, I decided to not go because I suspected something as silly as this or worse would happen. As look around ....... there are wonderful people here for the most part. The management of the place is horrid. There is strength in numbers however ...... and that feel is not on the communities side as there seems to be a small gathering or owners and a small gathering of renters, leasers as ourselves and a large gathering of 2nd homers. If there is no show of strength they will do as they please particularly the management people. As long as they are getting their paycheck they really don't care about here. Once the paychecks stop coming however, or are put into escrow until the meeting (s) are held ....... then we , you, will get all the answers you want.

Unprofessional on the part of Desert Resort Management and the board members themselves. Did not we just hold an election in January and they can't even come to a meeting they themselves called??????

very unprofessional

When will be the next meeting. Please give more notice and place signs on the mailboxes. No more trying to hid the ball. What are the names of the people on the board. I know some from the last annual meeting but not all. Palermo rules!

As sad as it seems that DRM or HOA whoever they are don't care about our lovely community. But we cannot let that deter us. It is quite obvious by the 11 people who showed up for a meeting that was canceled and the outpouring here on Penny's Blog that we all do care. Together as a community we can make a difference, it is us who live here in Palermo you me and all our caring neighbors. Instead of waiting for these people to call a meeting we should just meet on our own and discuss what is on our minds. Not sure how to go about or start that, but we have to start somewhere, just like Miss Penny Lane did to bring us here. There were some neighbors who showed up for the canceled meeting on Tuesday night who have been to meeting here before and know the format. But we have to start somewhere and not just be anonymous names in a Blog. I love Palermo and want the very best for this "Crown Jewel" I know there are many more inside these walls that feel just as I do.. And again Thank You to Miss Penny Lane for this Positively Palermo Blog. Enjoy the weekend everyone...

Lobo asks a good question in that who are these people????? Someone told me 3 of 5 hoa members live in Chicago.

I agree with Lobo that a meeting to share our concerns and positive solutions is a great idea. I hoped the HOA meeting would serve as that forum. According to the agenda it was to begin with a Homeowner Forum. I know it takes a minimum number of board members, in our case I would guess 3 HOA board members, to conduct business but IT ONLT TAKES ONE TO LISTEN AND REPORT BACK to the other board members. Eleven or twelve members of our communitry arranged their schedules, took time off, changed flight schedules or made other arrangements to show up and support our Palermo community. These are intelligent people with good ideas. There should be a minimum time frame -- 48 or 72 hours -- required to cancel an HOA meeting. Otherwise we are being disrespected and jerked around. We are all adults that care about our community and the people living here. We must be able to expect the same from ALL members of our HOA board. I know some members of the board are doing the best they can to improve things here. They need to remember that the rest of us homeowners and residents care as much as they do and can help be part of the spirit of this blog. I thank Penny too!

A neighbor says the problem is the three HOA board members in Chicago. At least two, maybe all three, are connected to the developer Enterprise. They seem to want control but not to put in the time. There are articles in the Desert Sun about this. Is it time to call in the newspaper or TV stations? I've also been told that those bad kids are in Enterprise rentals and nothing is being done. They were blocking the street the other day like they owned the place.

Three Palms with lights out.Management was told when it was only one out.Was told they put bulb in wrong lamp.Sure! Now the whole corner of Quiet Side Is dark.Awful management.

They said they did a "light inventory" and then once that was done, they forget that lights will still burn out. you call DRM and they don't get new bulbs put in. why can't the gardener just put them in? It's not rocket science. getting the simplest things don't takes forever here. A simple light bulb. No wonder if has taken two years to get cameras (and the still aren't here). The board can fire DRM but that won't solve it all because the fault for sub-par management falls with the OLD BOARD and this CURRENT BOARD. Getting rid of DRM won't erase the sins of the past. It's not a clean slate. The boys in Chicago laughing at all us.

Drove by them today. Still no replacement bulbs. What does the gardener do all day. They can cut down palm trees but not replace some bulbs. WHO MANY PALERMO MANAGER DOES IT TAKE TO SCREW IN A LIGHT BULB?

Meeting date set, anyone? I have a busy skedule in May so need advance warning or can't make it.

One more thing: In answer the April 19: It takes just one but he/she is never here to screw it in.

meeting date yet?

IS THERE A MEETING DATE/TIME SET?

Let's Meet said...

It now is May and the "canceled" meeting was more than 2 weeks ago so why is there still no meeting date set. The board must meet quarterly. We just elected new board members and they can't even attend a meeting or be on conference call. Why did they run? It is very very disrespective on the part of all the board members for this cold shoulder.

Is there a new meeting date that is CONFIRMED? People are talking about May 13. True?

The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. this Wednesday. I saw the agenda posted at the clubhouse. It's only up in two places. Some notice. Don't want us to show (again).
