Garage door paint colors at Palermo

Positively Palermo received this email regarding confusion over paint colors of the garage doors: "Hi, Ms Penny Lane, I have been enjoying your blog since before I purchased a unit in Palermo last spring. It has helped me feel more involved than I otherwise would, since I live in Los Angeles. I, along with many others I am sure, received notice that my garage door needs some attention. I have been given the name of a garage door company that can do repairs, but our management company was unable to tell me what paint color I should use (I have a B model unit). She suggested I turn to Positively Palermo, so here I am. Thanks!" We have received other emails in the past on this and also have received drawings from owners. We first posted this information on Oct. 18, 2010. The paint color names are: A) Petal Pink 495, B) Museum Rose 214, C) Bellingrath Castle 695, D) Deep Russet 264, E) Copper 320 and F) Good Earth 265, according to these renderings. These letters correspond to the colors below. Only Petal Pink, Museum Rose and Good Earth are garage door colors at Palermo. These paint colors were made by ICI Paints, which is now Glidden. They can be mixed at places such as The Home Depot. We do not have the paint code mix numbers, but if anyone has them please send them along and we will post. Miss Penny Lane says: She's painting the town red on this holiday weekend.

Who is that is stealing the Halloween Decorations off Sandy Point? I thought we had better Community Spirit than that!

A tip: When you get the paint don't be alarmed that it looks much darker. The paint on the doors has faded.

Too early for Halloween isn't it? Why do people like to push the holidays. Some stores even have Xmas decorations up already. God! I really takes away from the particular holiday when people push it. I rent here but I think the condo rules also have guidelines about how far in advance or after because people would leave them up all year long if they could out of laziness or whatever. Some people are just too stupid about HOA guidelines and don't even know they exist - real ignorance. I think this person probably does not even know what an HOA is. Ignorance.

The poster sounds like someone new here (and ignorant about the rules) but he probably is so new that he doesn't realize that the wind blows away decorations that aren't well secured. One year on Sandy Point a bunch of Christmas balls blew down the street.

Yeah, make sure your fasten down the decorations with the wind. But respect the holiday and the rules fellas.

Agree that the Halloween guy does not know about HOAs and the rules. We don't have a lot of dumb people here but we do have some non-graduates.

Silly me.....and I thought this was about the color of the garage doors???

8:22 must not know how HOAs work; you cam pick and choose the rules to enforce. The CC&Rs are what everyone agreed to. 8:22 you really need to get an education if you want to live in an HOA community.

to the 2:16 You are so correct. Sometimes people just want to compalin about anything any where. They are who the are. I find it best just to ignore all the negitive statements.

The paint is also available at Dunn-Edwards in Cat City. They have a book in the back on Palermo Community Association. You might have a hard time convincing the clerks up front of this, but they do have it. I got some there. Museum rose - the tag on the can says: SSHL10-0 SPRTASHLD EX FLAT.

If you need to fasten down your decorations well, before blaming someone else to taking them. And you need to know you live in an HOA in where you cannot pick and choose the rules you don't like. Sounds like you should not live in an HOA, either buy a single family home or rent in an apartment. But you do not belong here with that attitude. Educate yourself about HOAs and the rules of community living.

The first 11:11 commenter needs to focus and not hi jack this thread his/her dumb complaints. Love Palermo but every place has a dingbat or two

9;22, let it rest and refrain from insults. Let's get back to the paint topic that this thread is supposed to be about until the DIngbat of Sandy Point took it over.! Enuf said.

On the doors, we first did a white primer and then repainted all the doors. You are correct in that the paint in the can looks much darker, due to fading on the doors.

I think that some of the garage door repair services have done the painting for owners too, so they have the colors.

It's your garage door and of course you can paint it any color you want, but remember non-traditional door colors might be trendy or appealing at the time, but you may get tired of it later. And if you might want to sell your house now or in the future, the color might not be universally appreciated.
