Palermo's palms get big haircuts

Palermo residents were greeted this Saturday morning by the sound of chain saws buzzing and machetes being whacked, as our community's palms received major trimmings. There has been much concern about whether the palm trees are getting enough water. Miss Penny Lane asks: Could this be the beginning of all Palermo's plants being cared for in the proper manner, rather than being neglected?

They said at the last HOA meeting that they would start informing up more often using email blasts. But there's been nothing. It would have been so so so easy to send out a note about the palm tree trimming. I would have like to have known so I could have talked to the guy doing it. They took a little too much off for the tree's health. Oh, and then when they came to clean the roofs no one told me. Again it was a surprise. No communication, feedback from DRM or the board. This site is only how we can find out, talk, etc.

I agree it would be nice to know when a crew is going to show up at your home. Communication is not DRM's specialty I guess. I wonder what is?

a suggestion, thanks to Penney Lane we have this site, so all DRM would have to do is post any activities, meetings etc here. By the way there is the HOA meeting for July 26th still on?

Love LoBo's idea. Yes, why doesn't DRM just post the news here (and email as well) - the more communication the better. Good question about the 7/26 meeting. Why hasn't a notice gone out confirming it? Why always keep us guessing/wondering/worrying? I'm so sick of this.

DRM's specialty is blowing off people.

Is there a board meeting this month? No notice? Emails, agenda, notice should go out well in advance so we can plan. There's always some "slip-up," like no notice put until just days before, or the wrong time put on it. Last time, an email went out with the wrong date. Yes, they really want us to participate.

An email now has gone out about a meeting but no agenda. I can't believe that they do, or have to do, these agendas at the last second.

Will there be a in-call number?

There now are agendas taped to the mailboxes. Thanks for that. That's a good to let people here know. THANKS!

Now that I've gotten used to them the palms do look better without the dead parts.

Is there a call-in option????

Homeowners love Ms. Penny Lane and would like him/her to reveal their identity and play a visual role.

I love the mystery of Ms. Lane. I imagine her belting out tunes as she drives around Palermo in a big red convertible, top down, taking down precious information to better the community and blowing little kisses to us. (BTW, we renters also love her.)

Please don't spoil the mystery of Penny Lane. I've told all my friends also in HOAs about her. How she's so Palermo. So Palm Springs. They are so jealous and covet a Penny Lane of their own! I see something here, and wonder what Penny Lane would think or say - would it shock her "sensibilities" or bring a smile to her in her pink lipstick. I imagine her some almost too fragile for this world but still a survivor too, sort of a Grey Gardens type.

What disturbs me here is the way the HOA is so efficient in oppressing the residents who pay hoa fees....For instance parking...it seems the focus of the new Maxwell security service is the residents cars. not cars that don't belong here oh no... One couple recently had their car towed as it sat in one spot for too long and the notices where non visual and could not be seen by the owner....This couple was hurt by this. Why is that a resident cant park a car here for too long if by chance they are not needing it for a while? Its not like we are scrambling for spots to park here... I would like to know how in the hell do you go on vacation for two weeks when you live with a partner and have two or three cars..This is California the car capitol of the world. Everyone here has two to three cars ..The units only accommodate one car so you have to park the other one outside...I suggest a special Palermo permit for residents who need to leave or for some reason and are not using the car for a while...This rule is harsh and appears to be a conflict of interest...is there perhaps a deal with the towing company? All cars should be registered with the HOA so that Maxwell knows if a car is left here too long that don't belong. Why is it that the grocery bags stuck in the trees all over here is not so important or the broken irrigation and lights! The lighting on the NE corner was out for months which gave opportunity to crime and several cars where broken into and robbed...Maybe the HOA needs a citation given by the residents? I hope this aggressive fascist oppression can be directed to the enjoyment of the community instead of making you feel like you want to move...

Bravo to HOA and Maxwell for towing those eyesores. Hope there will be more towing. So glad we don't have to see that tarp covered car on Penny Lane anymore - an eyesore that a new renter had there for a month or more. Did the unit owner (VPM?) tell the dude the rules. Why can't these people follow the rules? They keep breaking them. Tow HOA tow. Thanks! I'm upset that this is the first towing I have even heard of - so long overdue. That vacation bull is a red herring because it's been SOP in the past just to tell management. Nada problemo. Thanks!!!!!
