Wanted: A reliable solid gardener

Now that we have your attention, here's an emailed request from a Palermo Palm Springs homeowner: "Could you post asking for recommendations on gardeners? We are in dire need of someone reliable to keep our yard tidy and in check. Thanks for everything!!" Miss Penny Lane says: If she employed the gardener pictured here to keep her place tidy and in check, she'd probably be unwilling to share. But please post your suggestions for other prospects for this homeowner in need.

The Palermo gardener Pablo also does work for owners. I don't have a number but he's here about three times a week - drives a brown truck. You could just contact him when you see him here.

Sierra Landscaping does a bunch of back yards here for the Enterprise units. I think they do others individually as well. They are here a lot.

Pablo has been great for me and a lot less than Sierra in terms of price. It is also, in my opinion, much more personalized service. His number is 760-250-6340.

Does anyone know why all these kids are skateboarding on the streets, at least 3 of them are doing it. One nearly was hit by a car when they turned the corner. Who are the parents?

I'm on too. There actually are four of them, all teens old enough to drive. They seem to be connected to the new Village Property Management renters on mid Sandy Point, the ones who had the police called for having a rock concert two weeks ago. Thanks a lot Michael Heath for caring about Palermo's residents.

VPM needs higher standards. Do they explain the rules to new tenants?

I live near these people. I lease from private owners who would never put up with this if I did it. These people on Saturday had another live music concert in their unit. I don't know if the police came again because I went to the store to get away. They also park in the street, so, no, I would say Village Prop. didn't tell them the rules, or they are just breaking them because they don't care that much?

Probably. Now that Heath is on the HOA board and Brandy so close, we have no way to stop this conduct of his tenants? The board is a little cozy club it seems to me.

They rushed to put Heath on and but won't put any full-time owners on the board. What's up with that?

Just so that you are all aware, Heath owns a unit here. I might sugest that if you are having an issue with someone that rent from VPM let them know. Michael will not take any bunk from any tennent. I am sure if you make him aware he will correct the situation.

Doesn't Heath also live here? He's been registered to vote, on Sunburst, for the past few elections. If so, he should be well aware of the violations by his clients and should do something about them, right?

At least if Heath is registered to vote from Palermo, none of the other HOA board members are registered to vote here because they may appear to some to just be investor owners using up reserves until they can sell.

Does anyone know who was in the clubhouse that other night? They had the door propped open and were smoking inside. Think they were VPM renters who have trashed the place before? Can Brandi Scott watch the video tape or is she never here or doesn't care? Don't know.

Posting on this blog and not bringing your concerns to anyone that can actually help you – serves no valuable purpose. The impression left by your anonymous postings is that you don’t actually care to be proactive enough and do anything about what you write - but rather to complain and whine. This blog is seen by many observers (inside the community and outside, e.g. prospective renters and buyers) as a forum to dump your complaints and run. The majority of the blog postings are provided with thoughtful purpose – but the former is the lasting impression. Let’s keep it a productive forum to help Palermo establish itself as place that all want to live and visit. Whether a renter or property owner – we all have a vested interest.

Instead of whining about Palermo residents who have REAL complaints about certain renters, why not follow up on the problems created. The above posting is just meant to DEFLECT attention and blame the messengers. Beyond the rental situation, this blog provides a valuable service because some owners feel shut out of the HOA process. Heath's "surprise" appointment is a case in point. The present board now has a voting bloc regardless of the January elections, and at the same time ignored for months upon months, two full-time owners who volunteered. At one point, as a road block to one appointment, they said they would not one just appoint one person because there would be an even number on the board. They went out the window for Michael Heath. All the disrespect for owners is one reason we are going.

With Heath's answer above, no wonder why they put him on the board. We NEED board members who listen and fix problems, not try to go after those who point out what needs fixing. Someone told me that this board is actually looking at suing the last board to go after the board director insurance (regarding the money that the developer "owes" the assn. over over payment of expenses the developer was "supposed" to pay for but the old board used HOA money for). So I wonder what a new board 2 or 3 years from now will do regarding how this board is operating (lack of apparent openness, no appointment full-timers to the board, etc.)?
