A new name for Enterprise Way?

You may have seen the discussion by residents about whether Enterprise Way, named after Palermo's original developer, should be renamed. Enterprise Way is the main entrance to Palermo, off Indian Canyon Drive. The clubhouse and a limited number of residences have Enterprise Way addresses, but when Phase 2 is completed, Enterprise Way will run all the way to San Rafael and have many more units. What do you think? Should Enterprise Way get a new name and shed the past, or do you like it? What would be some other choices? Miss Penny Lane says: She thinks the best name for a Palermo street is already taken.

Enterprise Way is a name that would be better suited for a commercial area, not a residential community such as Palermo.

i live on it. if this community has nothing better to do than this you'll have issues. Do not change it the people that pay are us that live on it. Paper work changing address changing hassles. Those that live on other streets are just affected by their extreme happiness over the change??? Find something important in life.

7:08 I agree I think we have bigger fish to fry

Just redefine the street name for yourself and disassociate it with the original developer. Example: "Enter" the gates...and Palermo is the "prize" :)

I like "Palermo St." or "Palermo Ave." especially because someday there will be a street light at the entrance - that is why the city made the developer line up the gate with the road across the way so a street light would be there. Then there would also be a a street sign and it could say "Palermo St." and it would help with people finding us. Love the idea of changing the name. Why be saddle with that old name and change it before more homes are added on that street.

It's too bad to be saddled with Enterprise as a name but I agree, it's a pain for anyone living there to have to change their address.

To 11:02, there aren't that many full time owners living on that street at the moment so it should not be that big of a deal, and USPS will still deliver for years even after the name is officially switched over. If we don't do something just because of a bit of hassle, nothing would get done ever. It's America; we can do things and improve things and stand a little inconvenience to things to get better in the long run. Does anyone who how we can do this? I'm on board 1000 percentile.

You will first need to found out if there is already a Palermo street in the city of Palm Springs.

Why not split the difference? Keep Enterprise for the few existing homes on that road but change the name of the street when it travels though the new part of Palermo. Why does the road from the current Palermo buildings to San Rafe need to be called Enterprise?; it makes a sharp right hand turn so it is not even really the same street. Let us not make more people have the Enterprise address in the future. TIME TO ACT IS NOW.

Since Enterprise company is gone bye bye and someone else will purchase the land, maybe "Next Generation" Way is the right choice.

Yes, it may be a burden to the few homeowners that reside on Enterprise but the "Enterprise" developers bailed out leaving all the Palermo homeowners with a giant financial fiasco. Having to be reminded of Enterprise is like having a tattoo of an X-lover's name on your arm. It something one would like to forget!!!!!

My vote: Palermo Way.

There's a guide on the process for changing a street name at ehow

Oh my God get money to heat the Damn pools on SPT before we waste money on a name change

Evon

Anonymous said...

Name should not cost money. I like Palermo Way or Palermo Avenue.

Anonymous said...

Really like Palermo way!!!

Anonymous said...

I also vote for Palermo Way.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Evon -- heating the other pool is a bigger priority.

Anonymous said...

I don't feel it's heat the pool versus a street name change. One doesn't have to do with the other. I am happy with the direction of the community, except for the parking in the fire lanes. A good energy exists amongst those who live here and those who live here in season. Bravo!

What's in a name anyway? There are more important things to focus on -- like bringing this community together.

Anonymous said...

I agree building a community is a better idea. Let's start talking to each other rather than issuing "warnings" first.

Getting rid of Enterprise is part of community building (whatever that means). Palermo is such a cool sex wonderful place. Love the neighbors. Love the vibe. Straights-gays-whatvers all get along. We have built something really special here. the proverbial place to be.

Anyhoo, the vibe here is like nothing in Palm Springs. I tell people about my neighbors and the design and they are wanting to move in.

How do we get the word out.

Best place and best neighbors or anywhere I have ever lived.

Named it after Palermo in some manner. On another topic, could someone deal with the loud noises on the lower end of Melody/Sandy as it no one is enforcing the laws there.

Palermo Way sounds good. Or we could callit Mag's Way

10 1021, yes a Palermo connected name is right on. Palermo Blvd. or Palermo Wy or Palermo Av. I also have a complaint for Penny Lane (our dear blogger not the street) in that the Blogspot has changed its set and it makes it really really hard to post comments. I know they did this because of spam but more times I can't even make out the numbers and letters to type in and if I do it wrong all I wrote goes away. This new spam protect of theirs has so frustrated me that I rarely post replies anymore. I hope I don't type in the wrong numbers and letters and lose this one!!!!!! Thx Penny for the work for us all. Love the positive nature of what's going on here.

I'm amazed at all the discussion on a name change -- really? I agree with the other comments about building a better community. Let's work together with renters -- we all live here after all.

I have always thought it odd that with a name like "Palermo" that at least some of the streets would have Italian or Mediterrian like names. Can't we have at least one?

Anonymous said...

We do: Breeze has a Sicilian connection.

Anonymous said...

Why? Because it is breezy there?

Anonymous said...

I vote to Palermo Ave. We will need to change the street signs but I did notice that not all the streets have them. I suggest that contribution be raised from interested residents so not to have to worry about the minimal costs of the sign changes.

Anonymous said...

What about " San Jacinto View". Good advertisement for future home buyers!
Palermo Way sounds like "Mafia Way"

Anonymous said...

to: 1249, LOL. Thanks Penny for this discussion thread. It's been entertaining and informative, just like you.

Anonymous said...

Indeed; be mindful of unintended mafia connections - Palermo/Sicily/Breeze.

Anonymous said...

It's so fun to hear what people have to say. Quite a lot of different views here.

Anonymous said...

Please name it Palermo Avenue.

Anonymous said...

Palermo Way is good as well, more distinctive maybe?

Anonymous said...

Howdy neighbors, lovin life and lovin Palermo. It is oh so quiet these days. Street name should be: Best Place in PS Street.

Anonymous said...

Nothing with "Mountain" please - make me think of Mountain Gate and such.

Anonymous said...

Never mind the mafia connection: do you realize that the original Penny Lane was named after a slave trader. Ooops!

Anonymous said...

Palermo Way or Palermo Lane. Best names.

Anonymous said...

Think out of the box for new name. Be creative.

Anonymous said...

Forty-eight posts on one topic is quite something. I say don't change it.

Anonymous said...

I like the idea of keeping it simple, so Palermo Way or Palermo Ave. (not street)is best.

Anonymous said...

What is the step to make this happen? Also, thank you for this forum.

Anonymous said...

Why is it so important to change the name anyway? If we're not careful the new owner may want to rename it.

Anonymous said...

Don't change it.

Anonymous said...

The name's fine

Anonymous said...

Perhaps we should take a poll of Palermo residents to see how many are in favor of changing the name. Then, if there is a majority in favor, we can proceed with a method for choosing a new name. If the majority is not in favor, end of story.

Anonymous said...

It's not a big deal. It's just a ne

Anonymous said...

It's just a name.

Anonymous said...

Poll is a good thought. I like Palermo Wy.

Anonymous said...

How will we do a poll? Thank you Oenny for your good service.

Anonymous said...

The HOA could mail to each Palermo address a simple ballot:

1) Do you wish to have Enterprise Way renamed? __ Yes __ No

2) If a majority of Palermoites approves of a change, please indicate your name choice below:
__ Palermo Way
__ Palermo Ave
__ San Jacinto View
__ Mag's Way
______________ Write in

Fill in the ballot and return to the HOA.

Anonymous said...

"Mag's Way" ????? WTF?

Anonymous said...

Palermo Way is the way to go!

Anonymous said...

I live on Enterprise Way and think that all of you that want the name changed need to find something else to put your energies into besides changing a street name. It is fine and should be left the way it is. I agree with others that the street name in Phase 2 could be changed as it is a right turn onto a separate street. Finally, the decision to change the street name should be left to those that live on the street and have that address. None of the rest of you that live on different streets would have to go through the process of changing everything to another street name much less think about the hassle of changing title/deed documents, mortgages, loans and insurance documents. Think about it people - it is not just a change of address card to the post office for those of us who live on the street. Find something else to work for that matters and makes a difference for the entire community.
