"Broken (sticks) windows" syndrome

After a second break-in to the clubhouse/gym, there's been much discussion here about the "broken windows" syndrome in which things, such as a clubhouse door that doesn't shut properly or slowness to fix a falling down outside glass display case, send a message that we don't care about this place. Then the thieves come in. Look at this picture sent in by a resident. About six or nine months ago it's said that some kids broke these pool sticks. Also notice the cigarette burn. The broken sticks have been sitting in a clubhouse cupboard forever. Nothing was done by management to replace them, or even remove them. The pool table also is being wrecked. Miss Penny Lane asks: Who will save our dear clubhouse and gym, why the delay in any action, and why has management still said nothing to us?

Why don't they fix that door?

Cameras are needed in the clubhouse and gym, or lock down the club house all the time. Why do people even need to be in that part?

No surprise about the pool table and equipment. Those kids on bikes aimlessly riding around set a nice (not) tone for the place.

Miss PL, maybe this site can get some of the broken down equipment fixed. One of the doors to the clubhouse has been busted for TWO HOLY YEARS and the community manager hasn't fixed it. The door stays open, ajar, if people leave through it. Closing it requires you actually to be inside to push in the bar. CRAZY. Sometimes the door is flapping open in the wind!!!!!!! Fix the god darn door. The manager knows about the problem that we called about at least a year ago but didn't fixed but rather put up a note. PositivelyPalermo, help help help.

And another thing: What about replacing the missing CURTAINS in the gym area????????? How long have they been missing???????

I've heard through the Palermo grapevine that the board has met and plans to put in cameras in the building and also at the gate. Better late than never. By speaking up we all are getting action to protect this community. Bravo everyone here. They need to put up big big signs to let these thugs know abut the monitoring. Next they need to do take step to stop that "aimless" biking by kids as someone here called it. They are running over plants and going through stop signs and harassing dogs.

When is the next homeowners board meeting?

The first house on Melody Lane, the one by the gate, again had cars illegally parked in the street/FIRE LANE last night. Nothing done.

VPM needs to solve the mess its tenants (the kids on bikes) are making - the ones on Penny Lane. Come on, Michael H, do what's right.

The illegal parking is getting out of hand again, mostly on Melody and Breeze. Bring back the tow trucks, you can't just do it sometimes or these people just go back to their old ways.

I'll say it again because it's happening again right now: The first house on Melody Lane, the one by the gate, again has a car illegally parked in the street/FIRE LANE. Colt?

More cars today on Melody, with the renters at Melody and Breeze causing problems. What's up with the garden hose they've had draped over the upstairs balcony going down to the water faucet on ground level? It's been like that for days. One of my neighbors, she took a picture. Said she was going to send it to management.

People at Melody and Breeze again had a car illegally parked.

The people at 3592 Melody, at the corner of Breeze, again have a car sticking way out from their driveway. Someone is going to run into it.

Where are the cameras????? What is taking sooooo long?????

Looked at the pool table this week - it's going down hill. Everyone knows who did it, these teenager boys are ruining it.

People at Breeze and Melody now aren't just parking on the street (see comments from April 7) - they are blocking driveways of their neighbors. (3592)

What about all the dented garage doors that make the property look so run down. Why are they allowed to stay that way and why are the responsible partys made to repair them?

Good Question (above) !!!!!

There are just a few doors that really have large damage. They should be sent notices. Most are located on Melody Lane. At least one door looks as though it will need to be totally replaced. It's unfortunate that several residents, especially on Sandy Point, park in driveways that are NOT their own. They are using the driveways because the owner is absent and they are too lazy to walk from the very nearby parking on Penny Lane (the street - not our hostess), the Quiet Side and elsewhere. I wonder if they are willing to pay for any damage that may happen. Come on folks. Act like good neighbors and don't park in a driveway that's not your own or on the curbside. These are fire lanes. There is PLENTY of legitimate parking available in our community. Use it!
