Don't trash this concern of residents

There's been a continuing problem with the community trash bins — one that management for years hasn't addressed with a permanent solution. The containers overflow, and Palm Springs Disposal won't haul away anything that's on the ground and not in the bins. See the picture from late last year. Food, packing materials and other garbage have been on the ground this week. There are no signs telling residents and vacation renters the rules about breaking up cardboard boxes, not putting large items such as old furniture in the trash areas, and so on. This is one of the fixable problems people living here can face if absentee management doesn't respond to concerns immediately. Miss Penny Lane says: She's tries to recycle everything, but she'll be happy not to have to reuse this topic ever again once the problem is fixed.

IF you see a trash situation just either call or email Brandy. It gets taken care of the next day. People are poeople, they will trash the trash area vs trashing their ownd area. Since we know there are not many walk threws here lets just be her eyes and ears and let her know if there is a problem. Let me know here if you need her contact info

Simple problem. SImple fix. What is the reason it persists?

Basic management should solve this.

Some of the little green peanuts for making have blown down Sunburst. I pick up the ones in my yard. The dumpster is often like this from Friday afternoon to Sun. night, so it is no use calling Brandi Scott. Then on Monday the rash guys pick up what is in the dumpster and leave the rest for us to deal with. Residents do try to put the junk remaining back in but it then piles up again as move stuff is added. So a call to her won't do anything (if they even get back), since by Monday the trash would be taken care of by residents but by Tues. or so the problem happens again.

Sounds like a topic for the meeting tonight?

Hi everyone doing my morning check into see what's on Ms. Penny Lane - she's my angel of the morning. Love that I can stay in touch from afar. I've notice that the trash issue is worse when it's around moving dates. People moving in and out place household items in the garbage along with boxes and other trash. Owners that rent out their places ought to tell their renters the rules. HOA could provide an easy short list of commonly ignored rules. We could also consider a move in/ move out fee because of the drain on HOA resources. One idea is to exempt the little guy who just has one condo and must rent it out to make ends meet, but to have the rule on owners of multiple units, like 3 or 5 or more something like that. The large number of Enterprise/bank rental like look it is a drain. Mike Heath of Village Property Management if he doesn't already should tell his clients about the dumpter rules, CHECK on the move in and move outs to see if they are following the rules and take it out of their security deposits if they are not, and give that to the HOA. Homeowners shouldn't be subsidizing Village or MB Financial. If we could take care of the VIllage Property client's trash outside the dumpsters then the problem might go away or really lessen. Brandi Scott at DRM also should be informed when Village has multiple move-ins move-outs around the same time so she can monitor the trash on the ground and in the streets. I agree with a comment above in that she's not here often so we need to help her (and of course she needs to get back to people and take action.) Okay, that's my two cents. I love Palermo and am freezing back home right now. We guys are so lucky!

Imagine the trash bin problem we would have if we didn't have so many second home owners who are here only on weekends, etc.

As one of the renters from VPM - they do go over all the rules. you sign like a 20 page agreement and then they give you a copy of all the by-laws and regulations of living here at Palermo. I think some are to quick to blame.

To the 1:26 @ 6:26. If you left, and the people here agravate you why are you still thriving on the drama here? You complain about something that does not even concern you. Makes one go Hummmm

I think if the 20 page agreement is correct, that only make any violations by those renters even more outrageous. Do the 20 pages include stuff about the trash bins (and about parking too.) I like the idea of anyone with 5 or more rental units paying a moving in or moving out fee because trash problem and the extra costs they are incurring. Why should we subsidize anyone's business.

The trash situation was discussed at Wed's HOA meeting so they know about it - now it should be fixed, right?

As a renter with VPM you get the same exact rules & regulations that owners do when they move in.

Good to know (above), then no excuses for breaking the rules.

The areas around the bins need a good sweeping and hosing down. Why is done on a regular basis? It should be and, no, I don't think it should up to residents to alert DRM. They should know and anticipate such things as it is their profession.

This is more of a landscaping gripe, but couldnt find where to post it so here goes. I am disapointed to have the same dog poop in my yard till it dries up to half its original size and turns black. Cigarette butts, Christmas tree tinsel and other random rubish remains stuck in the small shrubs along the street for weeks until I am assuming it disintegrates and or blows away. Not to mention that the landscaping outside the gates is full of weeds, trash and Hobo art. Talk about absentee management, oy vey!

The gardener should keep out the bushes and pick up the dog doo. I'm tried of people saying it's not his job - make it his job because it shouldn't just sit there - it's not the homeowner or resident's job but we do it and we are paying someone for upkeep.
