Miss Penny Lane drove home this evening and noticed that some of the discarded carts — at last! — have been removed from the median of Indian Canyon. But not all. The recycling center must begin to be a responsible neighbor because it is attracting all these carts. The city also must step in. On that front here are notes from Palm Springs City Council members Rick Hutcheson and Lee Weigel. Miss Penny Lane says: Palermo residents must continue to demand action because this isn't a one-time problem. Call the city, call the stores, call the recycling center (760-325-3377) and call the shopping removal service (800-252-4613).

Penny, if you want to know how out of touch the board is, they didn't even know about the carts. Guess that's what happened when three of them are in Chicago.

Hi everyone, I got inspired after the HOA meeting and went over to that recycling center. Never been back there. The guy Jack there basically said it's not their concern and they tell people to leave the carts away from the center and by Indian Canyon. Today I called Ralphs, Rite-Aid, Trader Joe's and Wal-mart about their carts on Indian Canyon and Oasis. All said they would do something about it. I think it's going to be something we'll have to keep on top of all the time unless the recycling center takes a proactive step. And that doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Maybe this site could have a list of all the retailers that have had carts on Indian Canyon so we have an easy place to go to get the numbers.

Did you all hear that a homeless guy - probably one of these shopping cart people -- was living in a clubhouse closet just a couple of weeks ago?
Some have gone but now more than showed too. NEVER-ENDING. Why doesn't the HOA write a letter to the city people about it?
Idea: Have the Palermo gardener collect them, or at least gather them to put in one spot.
