Resident reports problems with clubhouse security

Disturbing news to interrupt the holiday mood at Palermo Palm Springs. This was posted on Positively Palermo and also e-mailed to us. It reads in part: "Dear Palermo Residents, This evening while exiting the gym I came across something very disheartening for all the residents of this great community. The double doors closest to the gym exit were slightly propped open with a piece of paper shoved in the locking holes located on the ground. This made the door seem closed but in fact could be open with ease. Maybe it's the recent GOP debate but I believe we need a state of public awareness. Our lovely clubhouse would have likely been broken into this evening had I not dislodged the paper. It would be foolish to believe that these thieves wanted nothing more than a chance to take our 60 inch TV. The most disheartening fact about our safety is this is an inside job. Someone with a key has decided to steal from its own community or has tipped off the degenerates of this society. It may be time to reassess who still has access to the clubhouse? Is each persons key individualized as in we know who scans the door and when? Is there a way we can permanently lock the double doors closest to the gym exit? ..." Miss Penny Lane says: Thank you for your concern.

Thank you for your watchful eye. Don't we now have video surveillance? If we don't, it is such an inexpensive fix to make sure that we always know what is happening in the clubhouse. Besides, the big TV, we have a beautiful pool table and gym equipment that needs to be guarded by more than doors that can be propped open. Recorded video throughout the clubhouse is a very important investment for our community to make. This is an issue to be raised at the next Board Meeting!

Problem semi solved I will email DRM and request the cameras be reviewed so we can determine to did it and yes entries r logged by the swiper which contains owner info.

Great reporting Caio!

Six months ago the HOA board voted to have DRM update the electronic access cards. Why hasn't Brandi Scott done this, or have they?? It appears not.

Thanks to 8:21 for being so observant and thanks to 2:44 for reporting it. This is great team work and we all need to take care of Palermo and make it better than ever. I love it here.

We concur with 5:23. For some of us who live far away and only make several trips a year to our beautiful Palermo, we really appreciate the efforts of good, honest people.

Question is: Why is it taking so long for the upgrade? DRN I think in my opinion should get a bit better in the "getting things done" department.

Seems to take forever to get things like this done. Is Brandi overworked?

Where is DRM on this? We pay them to do this stuff. Scott, hello? Do't let this slip by.

Last I checked the system works and is fully functional. Does someone know something I don't before I confront DRM about it? I don't want to look stupid.

Also, a new renter has arrived and is using the gym a lot - no problem with that but they are propping open the doors with weights or a big rock. This lets anybody just walk in. It is a safety problem for people in the gym or residents who later come in. It also puts the equipment and clubhouse furniture at risk.

@ 10:23 My husband and I are new renters and we use the Gym a lot and havent seen the doors open but we should report that person to DRM as they may not be looking past the small picture in terms of damage to clubhouse ect, I am sure a friendly reminder wont hurt.

Saw it proper open with a weight this weekend. Also saw it happen a week ago with a kid going the open door.

New renter on SPT is leaving the garage door open forever but she is the queen.

Anonymous said...

kidding me. what is drm?

Anonymous said...

help!

Anonymous said...

@9:50 who is it that leaves their door open? Very few of us live on SPT and of the 3 women I am one of them.

Anonymous said...

To 1045: LOL assuming the queen is a woman. Hahaha

Sandy Point is the gayest of the streets of Palermo I'd say.

Anonymous said...

Even the straight guys on that street are gay. LMAO.

Anonymous said...

Oh you meant that kind of woman. LMFAO I have been sitting here at work all day wondering who in hell it could be leaving their Garage open.

Anonymous said...

Some of the new renters on that street, oy.

Speaking of Sandy Point, Is there a rule against tacky signs in one's window? Why are newcomers compelled to make us look at such visual clutter? Some class, please.

It, the club house security, was an HOA agenda last summer and it was decided to get better control of the key cards according to a board session I listened in on but it appears the management has done little to make it happen, an ongoing problem?

Hey I am a raiders fan too, so no ragging on the billboard.

Please talk to each other in person if you have a concern about someone who may not know all the RULES...be a good neighbor...help them out rather than complain about them here. They wont ever get the message yet we will have to hear broken record issues.

Anonymous said...

@ 4:45 I agree, everyone does so much complaining but no one ever takes action. It is easy to hide behind a keyboard but to really show effort of improvement you have to act.

I think it is hard to tell someone they are breaking the rules because you do and even if it is done nicely, they can get defensive and angry, and they also just keep doing it.

Cheers to all our Palermo neighbors. We wish you the best holiday ever!
