'Who is watching out for Palermo?' a resident asks

Positively Palermo received this e-mail: "Dear Penny, I want to know who is watching out for Palermo. I love it here like you do but this place needs someone watching over it. The parking problem is still going on because security does nothing about it. Melody Lane has trucks sticking out into the fire lane area.We never see security and no ticketing. The gardener is letting the trees fall over and many are about to, with their roots coming out of the ground. Sprinklers are shooting up water in various places. There has been broken glass on the Quiet Side parking area for months and no one has cleaned it up. Where is the manager? Near that spot, is full of dog poop with the gardener or whoever ignoring it. On my street of Sandy Point, someone with a gray old BMW has had it parked there for weeks without EVER moving it and a bunch of other old BMW clunkers are parked around the complex with one by the community trash container with a back window broken and sitting in the back seat .... Where is management I ask?" Miss Penny Lane says: Thank you for your concerns and care for our wonderful Palermo.

To the person who wrote this heartfelt comment, PLEASE e-mail Brandi Scott. While I know that people have various feelings towards DRM, I have found Brandi to be responsive to e-mails. She claims to want addresses and information about infractions that are taking place around the community. Whether or not she will follow through, that is a different question. But, I think it is our duty to do our due diligence and make sure we get the necessary information to the right place! She can be reached at bscott@drminternet.com. Palermo is truly an oasis in the desert but it sounds like it is becoming a junk yard, which absolutely breaks my heart!

Bravo! Why hasn't the landscape guy removed that black broken glass? There is more it on the south side of Sandy Point where the renters had their car window repaired.

It seems to me that there is plenty of parking here at Palermo. What type of car someone drives is their business. Not everyone can afford a new car.Having said this I also think its' rude to call someones car a clunker and give their physical address.I sure don;t drive around looking for expired tags. I have a LIFE.And that is the job of the Palm Springs Police Why don't you speak to the owner rather than be unkind to your neighbor? I agree with the post that said this was painful to read.

DRM is paid to manage our property.

To Post@1:02pm.....I agree with other poster....our CC&R's explicitly say that a disabled vehicle may not be parked on the property for 72 hours I believe. If your a homeowner, you should know this, if your a renter then stop commenting on homeowner concerns.

I wouldn't classify a BMW 6 series as a "clunker", even if it's not being driven regularly. On the topic of irritants and annoyances, is there anything in the CC&R about dogs that bark excessively?

To 8:01, thanks for your common sense. This issue is about cars not being moved for more than three days per CCRs (in this case it''s been weeks upon weeks) probably because the no title/no insurance? It also is against CCRs not to have a working vehicle that is just parked there. This no registration=no insurance is a safety matter as well. Where is the landlord on this?

Anonymous said...

Also, as a renter, I can't call Brandi at DRM I was told. The trees on Sandy Point need reinforcement. Why is the landscaper ignoring this? One tree has already fallen down.

I call a clunker a car with the windows that don't rollup and down, or has its back window out and laying in the back seat in the guest parking spot.

We are long term renters who may move because Sandy Point isn't being looked after --- illegal parking in the street, a car permanently parked in a driveway, trash can always out, trees need care.

haven't you people got anything better to do with your lives than be spiteful about your neighbors?

HI I live here at Palermo and I like it a lot here and I care about the community...You out there that posted my address should come and talk to me personally... First of all my car is not a clunker and even if it is its my business..By the way its a classic grey Market German BMW never sold in the us..It runs great and it looks good! Its safe and its insured..It was appraised for 20k by a classic car dealer here in PS. You there come and I will show you the insurance.... Also you are breeching the peace of my home by making my address public to the community...and upsetting me.. And your facts are not straight. This is called slander. I have been in a real hardship for the last 9 months with my health. Please stop this as you are will cause more trouble for me.! I have two cars not seven! One is in the garage. The other two bmw's here belong to someone else and they are tabbed too.. That make four. I counted 13 cars here on Sunday morning out walking that are not tabbed...A lot of people are having financial troubles these days in the collapsing economy..and you may be next! Please quit judging others without first finding facts or speaking to your neighbor in a spirit of kindness and love about your concerns.

I agree with the above 425 poster. He says cars are tagged and have insurance. And he only has two.Frank ly ,we are sick of your anonymous notes posts and phone calls. If you are going to name addresses be a man and speak with the person yourself. As you can see you got people riled up and your post was not even true.

It is odd how several clunkers now have tags that did not before these posts. Also odd is how a car can suddenly have a new tag but it is not for June 2012 but for a month just a few months in the future.

The " economy" is not an excuse for anyone to drive around with no reg or insurance.

Please remember to put your trash can in, not keep it out permanently, next to the garage door.

Penny is refusing to post them so far but there are photos of all these cars from a week ago without tags, so if it is said this is untrue that is what is untrue.

There is a SMALL group of people here that follow the old Navy saying "A bitching saylor is a happy saylor" this also holds true for some people here. They are a SMALL percent of little people that have no respect for others and hide under anonimity cutting down ohters. Remember chicken poop is chicken poop no matter what you do to it. I am sorry to thouse who are the target of chicken poopers!! I can assure everyone that the community is full of respectfull fun loving people living their lives as best they can under difficult circumstances. Maybe lend a hand vs a harsh coment.

LOL about 8:35, he complaining anonymously about people complaining anonymously. It is something how people breaking the CCRs go after the residents who are concerned about the rule-breaking, rather than focus on correcting the behavior. It's also something how the "defenders" resort to crass language. Sad.

To the 9:35 post. Think you should find it interesting that the remaark made to the resident nameing their address is VERY sladerious in nature and does open up for law suit ESPECIALLY since it was done with harmful intentions, now if you think you know more than my lawyer you let me know. These kind of actions will come back and haunt the HOA. I am different than you, when I have a proplem with a neighbor I confront the neighbor and don't put my business here. I might just finically suport the law suit so why don't you put that in you pipe and some it.

It is not slander if something is true.

About the dog poop, why doesn't the landscaper put it up? If a dog owner doesn't, who is supposed to or will, or does it just stay there forever?

Anonymous said...

The trashcan that is forever out on Sandy isn't the only problem child. There is a recycle can elsewhere put out by a weekly renter on Sat. and recycle pickup isn't to Thursday. Does anybody have ideas about how to solve this? We have no onsite manager to move it. Thanks in advance.

Anonymous said...

Is not DRM paid to watch this stuff?

Anonymous said...

to the 6:00 Post. I am getting the imperssion that the landscapers do not do dog do do. As for the 6:11 post I think the best way would be to put a note on their door letting them know the trash days and if they could just put their trash out on thouse days it would be appriciated. Something no-threating and kind should do the trick

Why don't we channel all this passionate energy into moving Palermo forward and stop attacking each other. Rules are made for a reason and we all agreed to abiding by them in purchasing here. If you disagree with the CC&R's then there is a format to follow to impose change that would require a community quorum. Stop defending those that are breaking the rules and conversely stop taking pictures of cars like this is Big Brother or something. To the 9.55 post....the HOA has no skin in this game......this is not a HOA sponsored or endorsed blog......nor has any officer of the Board representing themselves as such made any such comments.

To 8:27, thanks for the ideas. The thing about the blue recycle bin on the street near the gate is that the owners are gone - bin put out Sat. and recycle pickup Thurs - so don't know if a note will help in this case. (Hope someone takes the can in on Thurs ??).

We were told that a picture help management or they don't know the infraction really happened - a he said/she said kind of thing. That make some sense. I don't really call snapping a photo on a public street BB but I see the point. Anyway, thanks to you all here caring about Palermo, even though there are different point of views, it's clear that we all care about it here. I love Palermo too!!!!

I concur with much of 9:19 comments such as that we all agreed to the CC&Rs when we bought. The HOA must enforce them uniformly and people must stop griping about that. There is a process to change them and work with that, don't gripe and break the rules. But in my experience on my street it is not the live-in owners but the renters causing the problems. I was talking to a guy outside my place who told me all this stuff being talked about here (car, trash, so forth) are being done by renters and between them. So I ask that individual owners renting out to educate our tenants about the rules, and that the management company handling the Enterprise units do so as well as as some of these concerns seem to be stemming from those units. But I also take a long view in that situation as those units it seems will be sold soon enough, so we need a way to educate individual owners who rent out too. I also think we need a period of stricter enforcement because of the rental situation with Enterprise because no one thought we'd have so many rentals as Enterprise did not market the property this way, but at least this is temporary and will end soon. Thanks for your time. I love this place too and overall we are surviving the bad economy well.
